Na ex-president Bill Clinton ("Voetbal is oorlog") omarmen ook Amerikaanse komieken het WK Voetbal. Jon Stewart tegen zijn Britse verslaggever Jon Oliver, wiens team het zondag tegen de Duitsers moet opnemen: "If Germany gives you guys any trouble, and you need America to swoop in and bail your asses out again, let us know!"
