Dochter-van Meghan McCain huilde toen ze hoorde dat haar vader in 2008 Sarah Palin had gekozen als running mate. “Mijn eerste reactie was: Who the hell is Sarah Palin?” In haar boek Dirty, Sexy Politics onthult de columniste en wannabe-redder van de Republikeinse partij meer: zo kreeg ze tijdens de campagne van een inderhaast ingeschakelde image consultant te horen dat ze zich als een stripper kleedde. Raar, vond Meghan McCain, vooral omdat Sarah Palin op dat moment in het nieuws was met een zwangere tienerdochter.
